Danielle Walker was born in California, but was raised in Brunswick, Georgia. A strong interest and love of music led her to pick up the alto saxophone in band class at age 11. She continued participating in band class into high school, where she discovered the baritone sax. As a student, she performed in the marching and symphonic bands, as well as jazz band. At the young age of just 16, she had the honor of being asked to play in The Jekyll Island Big Band, and was the youngest and only female musician in the group on most occasions. After graduation, Danielle was accepted into the music program at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia. She learned a great deal, but was eventually drawn to Brevard College in North Carolina, where she studied classical and jazz music and pursued her degree. There she discovered her real joy in making music, performing in everything from jazz band, to combo, to symphonic winds, to woodwind ensembles and sax quartets, to rock bands. In 1998, as a sophomore in college, she was featured on the baritone sax with the Brevard College Summer Jazz Workshop Faculty Band, presenting the music of the Miles Davis Nonet. The band opened for The Three Baritone Saxophone Band, and was featured on National Public Radio hosted by Branford Marsalis.
In 1999, Danielle studied abroad in Altmünster, Austria, studying German as well as participating in local Music Kapelle, Marktmusikverein Altmünster. After three months she returned to Brevard, and soon after performed in the Brevard College Saxophone Quartet, premiering "Variations of John Henry" by Dr. Paul Elwood, at the World Saxophone Congress in Montreal, Quebec. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, Danielle moved to Asheville, North Carolina, enjoying regular involvement with organized jazz, rock and funk bands in North and South Carolina.
In September of 2004 Danielle joined the cast of The Historic Savannah Theatre in Savannah, Georgia, performing on soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, as well as clarinet, flute, auxiliary percussion and vocals. Her career the theatre continues today, where along with the talented cast she performs over 250 shows per year at what is the oldest continually-running theatre in the country. Danielle has performed in over 4000 shows in her 14 years at the Savannah Theatre, displaying her considerable talent in an extraordinary range of productions, to include Les Miserables, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Little Shop of Horrors, Jukebox Journey, Return to the 50's, Savannah Live, Hooray for Hollywood, The Beat Goes On, Piano Men (in which she performed a couple of Carole King tunes), the Savannah Theatre's annual Christmas production, and many more.
