Joe Leader has spent all of his life playing music. Born into a musical family (his mother, Lucille Orden Leader, is a professional concert pianist), Joe and his first band won the "Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Awards" when he was just sixteen. He went on to study music at London's Guild Hall School of Music and then at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His first class honours degree in Music Technology from LCMM enabled him to produce his own debut album and subsequent EP's & Singles. Joe's debut album, Seductive Sax, had 135 global radio plays per week and reached the Top 20 in the US Jazz charts.
Joe has recently recorded his own original Cinematic Saxophone album, HEALING THE HEART, 'An emotional journey to heal the heart and inspire the soul.' Accompanied by his all-star band, String Orchestra and Mosaic Chamber Choir, HEALING THE HEART fuses a myriad of different musical styles to create a powerful, passionate, Cinematic Saxophone experience. His incredible career has taken him all over the world, performing on stage with such greats as Italian pop legend Eros Ramazzotti, Joseph Calleja, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Stephen Gately, Pharrell Williams, Joss Stone, Sandie Shaw, Beverley Knight, Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Mindi Abair.
Career highlights include being a featured saxophonist with Maltese Tenor Joseph Calleja and Eros Ramazzotti performing with the Maltese Philharmonic Orchestra (Malta, 2018), featured soloist with the Eros Ramazzotti Perfetto World Tour (2015-17), Pizza Express Jazz Club (London 2014), Dave Koz & Friends At Sea Jazz Cruise (2013), Leicester Square Theatre (London 2012-13), Global Angels Awards Show, Symphony Orchestra of India (Indian Cultural Festival), "Joe Leader Collective" Gala at Cafe de Paris, 60th Anniversary D-Day Celebration/Literary Festival, Cape Town Jazzathon, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sydmonton Festival, and more. Joe is also a 'Légère Reeds' and 'Hercules Stands' sponsored artist, whose talent and scope of work has attracted the admiration of 100,000+ Facebook fans. When he is not seducing listeners across the world with his saxophone, Joe can be found practicing Aikido, a Japanese martial art in which he has a Second Degree Black Belt. Both, says Joe, help to focus mind, body and soul on his art.
